Breathless

a wisp of wind
the silent breeze
he was right here then
a breath of air
the surge of his warmth
his longing stare
a warm hand down my back
his hand in my grasp
an amusing attack
his hands slip further
and down to my belt loops
and then a slight murmur
"i love you Beatrice Prior"
she sighs and leans in
while he meets her eyes to admire
and in that warmhearted wake
she dies at the end
and there is nothing left for him to take
