All was bright

the midnight

was clear,

and bright
the stars winked at us from above

as we weaved,

and

dipped within the trees.
everything about him

screamed brilliance

salvation

brilliant salvation

from everyone and everything.
His amber eyes sparkled

in the starlight;
there was no moon,
no need for a moon when the stars revealed the world,

stars;

that were little windows to what the day could hold,
like sweet summer sunsets

that could take the breath from your lungs,
or falling into the crinkling leaves

that we had swept into messy piles every October,
but this was night

and

the quick revelations only made the night jealous of the day.

But

only night could capture the beauty that was him.
Bathed in starlight,

his eyes danced,

grazing every inch of my childlike innocence.
They spoke certainty,

and

the passion that he felt.
He didn't need to say it

yet

he so often did

that it became familiar

so obviously familiar
that the slight falter in his words

would scream at me;

and

yet his words never faltered.
He never failed to be

my salvation

my brilliant salvation
from the world

and everyone in it.
The starlight made his amber eyes shine

brighter

then any sunny day.
The trees threw shadows across his shoulders

as he held me tight

creating jarring images

across the defined muscles in his back.
His salvation

brought peace

to my mind
and even though his perfection

was only obvious to me,

I was glad

of my salvation with the twinkling eyes

on that bright midnight

with no moon.
