A splash of water hits her face
She thinks maybe the cool water will wash away the pain
She hurts
Wondering why it was her
Why she was the chosen one
She’s scared about what will happen next
Where will she wake up
Or what she will wake up to
The pain still drains her since 2010
That terrible incident makes her clench
In tears she is
Weeping away her sorrows
Wondering why everything went downhill
She stands tall for now
Or at least tries
Until something else happens again
Continuing to splash her face
She notices
Tears can’t be washed away
Nor the pain
Nor the hurting
She is wounded
Claiming she’s okay
But she’s not
Turning off the faucet ends the dream
That almost was reality
Realizing she is me
