People always told me to never run away from my past.

But it seemed like the only option.

Mom needed a fresh start.

How could she move on and forget everything like a toy she grew out of?

How could she forget about dad?

It was an accident.

He didn’t mean it.

Living in a forclosed house was never a life that I wished to live.

Now it’s my reality.

The stairs talked more than my mom and I

Creaking like old bones.

Sticky spiderwebs wrapped around me

But it didn’t bother me.

I had more important things to worry about.

The dust in the house was like blanket

Shielding all the memories that had once been

Were my memories with dad going to be forever covered in dust?

Just left and abandoned?

Never to be remembered again?

The happy life I imagined was over.

All because we needed a new beginning.

Memories untouched.

Silent.
Out of mind is our past
