The Ring

I dialed your phone
It rang and it rang
But then I discovered
Something very strange
The voicemail changed
From your voice
To a ding
And it said
“This number will no longer ring”
My eyes widened
And my mouth quickly ran dry
But I just wanted to know
The reason why.
Why did you not answer?
Why did you not ring?
Was it because I had nothing?
But then I kept calling
Every day and every night
But one day, you and I became alike
We both were gone, you weren’t there
And where am I?
I don’t know where
