The Last Goodbye

Nobody knows
when the last goodbye is.

For sometimes we stand alone,
even if it's to prove we still can.

So love the friends you have,
forgive the ones who hurt you.

Never let go of a memory,
that made you happy.

Be the person
who makes others feel special.

Be known
for your kindness and grace.

Being hones may not
get you a lot of friends.

But it will get you
the right ones.

If you want to fly
give up on everything that weighs you down.

Give a hug to someone
who needs it more than you.

Blood makes you related,
and loyalty makes you family.

Accept every open door,
and remember every closed one.

For those doors are lessons,
ones you'll need for the open one.

Don't be afraid to rock the boat,
even if someone falls out.

They probably weren't meant
to be in there in the first place.

When we're afraid to be strong,
we use our weaknesses to control others.

This is not goodbye,
this is saying hello to tomorrow.

Often we say goodbye
to the person we love.

Though it doesn't mean
we've stopped caring.

Sometimes goodbye is just a painful
way of saying "I Love You".

Never forget who was there for you,
when the rest of the world forgot.

Forget what hurt you,
but never forget what it taught you.

For you never know
when the last goodbye is.

A lesson I've learned over the years, is that you might not get to see your friends, and loved ones again, so I wrote this as a reminder to live life while you can, when you can, for as D.C. Talk said in one of their songs, "Time is ticking away."
