Ocean Eyes
For a moment
 everything was hazy
 and warm
 and smoothed
over but this was quickly punctured
by the heat of the words
 that were spoken like
 barbed wires
 stuck
 between
 the
 hurt

 Like static electricity
 recalling the sweetness
 of your teeth
 tapping against mine
 now bitter
 waltzing around the dream
 of you
 and
 me

 Like the sound of salt
 whistling through the rolling
 waves
 omnipresent
 stronger at night
 fading by dawnlight
 The same salt that
 had danced on my tongue
 before his unequivocal
 blindness
 descended
 down

Like a nightmare in his raging
eyes that played back to me
 an old cassette tape
 of his story
 whisked away
 by the waters
 of his ocean
 into which
 I fell
