The morning horizon was empty
only light was in sight
heaven sent forth a message
it was encrypted in the sky
tropical water blue
a golden hue
and a salmon pink
All these colors made me think that maybe
I take pleasure in my own pain
The leafs of the trees were a suspended emerald sea
The flowers huddled together painting an aurora close enough to touch
Alone in this world, I must adapt to each form of despair
Each day is a labyrinth,
never knowing which way will set me free...

The inspiration for this piece came from my battle with Bipolar Disorder. I feel that I have come a long way in recovery and treatment. I hope people suffering with this or other illnesses will take this poem as a testimony that you can get through the dark times with self-determination and perseverance. This poem is also linked to my blog.
