Those certain people you’ve always glanced at as they walk by
Who you watch out of the corner of your eye
That one person who you always hope will say something
When you know you should reach out to take the first swing
Those times you tell yourself, they’re the same as everyone else
They walk by and you freak out to look somewhere else
That one thing you want to prove, to show, for them to see
When they talk to you, make a joke
You become a puppet, trying not to choke
You come up with a question trying to open up the lock
Afterwards you realize, it was a really dumb talk
They walk around you so casually and you don’t know what to say
You want to be friends but are never yourself when they’re in your day
Sometimes you laugh a little harder, talk a little more
You try to attract their attention, and realize you’re just a bore
All you want to do is prove, to impress, to show what you’ve got
Once is never enough, it’s just impress, impress, impress
Finally I hope to realize, they don’t care how good I am or how good you are
It’s what makes you happy, makes you smile
