Hidden Within the Heart
There is a monster inside me
Her name is hate
She rattles my cage like bones
She screeches and pounds inside
And mostly just hates.
She has two little demon friends
Which try to help her escape
They are fear and pain
They fuel her for her escape
Where they will go is a mystery.
Hate gets riled up
When someone hurts me
I can't always stop her then
She overflows out of my ears and actions
Hate makes me want to scream.
Hate is like a terrible fie inside
She is sometimes soothed by my angel friends
Who are called love hope and laughter
Like fire is tamed by water
These times are safe
Sometimes hate is too powerful
My angels abandon me
And I am left to fight her alone
These are the times when fire wins
All that is left are some charred tree stumps
Maybe we should learn to treat hate like hearts
Let it beat steadily away
Like endless pounding drums
Maybe we will then have some peace
But maybe
Our hate is our heart
Trapped in a cage
Yearning to unleash its true feelings
