If I could close my eyes
and rest here forever
I would rest here
with the swish of the wind
and the sweetness of the trees.
I would bask like a lion in the sun
and smile as its warmth sank through my skin
yet held a healthy contrast with the pavement below.
My heart would be content with the cut of the grass
short and soft, and the cars whipping past
and the earthy scent of crushed leaves cuddling me like a blanket.
If I could close my eyes
and rest here forever,
forever in the innocence and brilliance of life
I would rest here.
