Lost in an Elevator
There was water in the metal that melted ‘cross the floor,
And through these holes in the growing walls
I could see walls:
Unpainted and unpaintable
With streaks of rust across the stones -
Close enough to touch but too far to see.
And perhaps it was dark and perhaps the dark frightened me,
So I chose another floor
And moved on.
