The Fight
Your condescending comments
cover us,
caustic rain: surging
from the heavens.
Yet, we create our own umbrella.
Sturdier than expected, yes,
Standing spirited and tall;
unexpected.
Inferior to the contusing burdens,
endured in each aspect,
Looked down on,
human nature is
a volatile enemy.
Told we will never have enough strength,
Never run fast enough (maybe our pony tails slow us down),
watch me.
Hard work over strength, dedication over talent
With earned success more meaningful than surmised success
The drive within, a burning flame that heightens with each challenge
ready to explode into bursting fireworks of triumph,
The struggle fights on, society continues to dictate our standards, our limitations.
My largest dream? Break the limits.
