Dear Depression
Drowning,
but this time
not in sadness.
I'm drowning in my joy.
This guilty joy.
But joy nontheless.
The gun is at your head
pull the trigger, make it dead.
I banish you,
dear depression.
Don't bury me
an endless pit of sorrow.
Don't return,
you aren't welcome here.
The sunlight's streaming in
for the first time in years.
Ice is melting away.
I've reached my Summerland.
Please, God let me stay here.
I've come too far to go back.
Please, God, let me rest here.
I haven't slept,
I just wept
but now there's no more to fear.
Depression, my dear,
you are banished here.
