He looked up at the sky,
The sun shining down on him
Like unrelenting waves from the heavens.
He drags his feet slowly and sluggishly
Shifting his feet from one position to the next,
His shoes sinking into the soft ground.

His sweat drips from his face,
Like an ice statue melting in the summer sun.
He checks on his compass
Hoping to find some consolation,
And to find the way that leads to home
Out of the sun-drenched sands.
