10 steps to drowning
One; breathe in as much as you can. Make your cheeks like balloons, filled with enough air to sustain you.
Two; don't let the air escape.
Three; Start counting. You're under water now, and your only hope is the minimal amount of air that you've captured only moments before.
Four; You begin to question your judgment, and wonder how much more time will elapse before you suffocate.
Five; Your head begins to spin due to your anxiety and lack of air. Your lungs are screaming for the oxygen that is being denied to them, and you close your eyes to deny yourself the miserable longing for the surface of the liquid cage you're immersed in.
Six; Your body is weakening, and you're so close to giving up. Its been a mere 45 seconds, and your body is beginning to reject your efforts to resist breathing in.
Seven; You suck in a massive amount of water against your will, and struggle to swim to the top of the water, but your limbs work against you, refusing to put forth work without first being fed oxygen.
Eight; Your body has betrayed you, now. You choke, longing for the comfort of breathing, but soon accept your fate, and succumb to the weighty waters, letting your life leave you.
Nine; You can see your own body floating now, and you're surrounded by a euphoric peace. You aren't suffering anymore as your watch your lifeless corpse lie limp, and float to the surface.
Ten; You have been waiting for this moment all of your life: death. And, its just as quiet as you had imagined. So, satisfied, you fly away, your spirit making its way to eternity.
