The Invisibles
They walk with no name
Their lips lined with silver staples
Faces under a mask
Like crows
Of death and muck
Contagious beings of dead hopes
And screams
The invisibles never visible
With storms of hurricanes in their stride
Their mouths remain sewn
Shut up tight
Forever
Under a lock
Without a key
Pins attached to their chests
That scream out pride
They refuse to acknowledge
How many their guns have slain
Of detainees
And innocent lives
Whatever the number
The souls lose their meaning
The badges get heavier
Every day
A mark
A weight
Dragging against the jagged rocks
From wives and mothers
To daughters and sons
Saviors
Or gods
They walk in silence
As the war drums beat on
