Milky-Way
There was once a girl who dreamed of flying away along the Milky-Way
But her feathers were clipped
To glow in the dark shapes
Crudely pastes on her bedroom ceiling
And each day
In school
The shadowed conspirators shot
Her back with piercing stares
And when she turned
There was no one looking
She had clothes and shoes and hats
To place upon her chest and crown
Yet the buzzards
Said they do not suit her
Fat frame and speckled face
There was once a girl who dreamed of creating magic and wonder
But her wand was snapped
And her beak
Trapped
Between stuttering, nervousness
And darting eyes
That made the rain fall
Heavy to her lap inside
The comfortably cold girl's
Toilet cubicle, all she sung now
Was a friendless lullaby
Through choking breaths she
Held with her hand
There was once a girl who dreamed Of only, now, one thing
To be understood but
Alas, her cage was locked tightly
By her knitted eyebrows
And unaccompanied, in the
Loo she slashed
Her bony wrists until
Bright crimson brought
Her ecstasy
And all alone
She flew away
Along the Milky-Way
