Love Is Not Happiness

Saying she’s happy
And being happy are different.
She feels like she’s waited all of her
Life to be happy with someone,
Only to realize she’s not.

Butterflies are racing in her stomach.
A brain knows it’s happy but
The rapid beating of a heart
Feels what it’s like to be happy.

Love doesn't come as easily
As it did for Belle.
She’ll get bored of the daily routines,
And the same conversations had everyday.
She can’t go back to
The perfect and happy relationship she
Thought she once had.

Stare out the fingerprint smudged window
At the bright green trees
Smell the sweetness of the blooming sunflowers
Bright like the golden sun as you walk by.
All time around you continues. But

You’ll wait, and wait, and wait
For something better that will never come.
You’re lip trembles and eyes like an ocean
Fill with salted moisture.
You know,
This love, is like a stopwatch going
Tick
Tock
And the time is running out.
