Awake
My bare feet sink into the warm earth as I am running
Flying
Faster than I knew my body could carry me
Tall grass grazes my fingertips
As I fly ever faster
The soil kisses my soles
Explosions of color erupt from the earth
Effervescent and glowing
Shades of oranges and rose dust the horizon
Tendrils of vines caress my limbs
Petals of flowers embrace me
I collapse onto the forest floor
The orbs of color melt into a warm haze
Tasting of honeysuckle
That clouds the horizon
Darkness descends
Leeching the sky of its vibrance
Only hues of gray remain
My spine curves in tandem with my stomach
Hollowing me out
As I fall into the ashes of earth
Silent
