You, me, and what used to be
I sit in the desk staring out the clear glass window,
I watch the vibrantly green colored leaves swaying,
Gently, with the soft blowing wind,
And the clouds floating across the pastel painted sky,
Wishing I could feel the warm sun beat down on my golden skin,
And the easy breeze, sweeping through my hair.
Thinking about that day last summer,
His brilliant blue eyes glistened in the sunlight,
As we sat out in that open field on the bushy green grass
For hours talking and laughing about life,
And everything that came to our complicated minds.
He watched me as the breeze blew,
And the sun gleamed down on my long wavy blonde hair.
He smiled without holding back,
Then leaned in for a soft, gentle kiss
It was long and magical under the sunlight and that aqua stained sky.
I felt as if we were a movie that would never end.
But I was naive then; I know better now.
“I love you” is what we used to say,
Now there are no words.
Life is different then how it was with him;
There was no struggle, there was no pain.
But we had to end.
It began to be too much,
I couldn’t take it anymore.
You took too long,
And I can’t wait forever.
I walked out of your life,
Never to look back at what used to be.
Leaving behind all that I had known,
And praying my new beginning
Would be all I had hoped for.
