The field is vast and the enemies are all around
The sergeant stands before us warning, “Hush! Don’t make a sound.”
I observe my surroundings watching carefully for danger
While my brothers in arms pray to God and thank the sweet baby born in a manger
Then the blasts start up as shrapnel sprays across the scene
The bell just rang …that was quite the dream
Last thing I remember, I was sitting in class
The teacher said “be quiet” and the room was silent at last
I took out my phone and watched the teacher turn her head before I sent my text
Then I heard someone say “thank God class is almost over”, as I laid my head on the desk
Man the bell just rang I better get going
One more class left today and I swear the clocks are slowing

i made this piece up this morning. The piece tells of a child in school whho falls asleep in class and dreams that everything thats going on in the classroom around them is an act of war. The seargant speaking is the teacher. The shrapnel is kids getting up and flying out the door. Trying to spot danger is really watching for teachers before sending a text. Every teen can relate to this poem!
