Charade
When we laugh,
It’s a sign of happiness.
Of joy.
Of felicity.
When we laugh,
Are we actually experiencing delight?
When we cry,
It’s a sign of sadness.
Of sorrow.
Of regret.
When we cry,
Are we actually experiencing grief?
Is everything just a charade?
Do we stumble along,
Always asking questions,
Always assuming emotions are more simplistic
Or more complex
Than they are truly meant to be?
When we inquire,
It’s a sign of curiosity.
Of interest.
Of confidence.
When we ask questions,
Does anyone actually stop to answer?
