Loving the Dandelion
I never once thought
that your lips would ever lay upon mine,
or that your finger would trace the kisses you left.
I never once thought
that you could love me like you once loved her,
but in the end you did, or so you told me.
I never thought
we would be together forever,
start a life of our own away from the past.
I always knew
you’d leave eventually without a backwards glance,
at the person you used and lied to for your own games.
I always knew
it would end sooner than it started
for how could anyone love a dandelion when you could have a rose?
