In this maze we may lose our way.
Burnt in the ovens of
This century.
And the gas tried to, no mercy,
But it couldn’t choke me.
Chasing we,
Change your name and
Your identity.
This isn’t the way to be.

Rats, laughing at braids.
Raising our heads on
A stake.
They speak about order,
Shaking your hands while
They spit in your face.
Bloody Star,
Does our tears make.
When we live in the
Sins of yesterday.

The author's comments:
A comparison of Nazi treatment towards their prisoners (first stanza), specifically homosexuals, and recent Russian violence against gay men and women (second stanza). Just a poem to bring awareness and know this violence does feel like what happened during WWII to the ones prosecuted and their families which shouldn’t be ignored.

Thank you so much for reading!
