She Didn't Say a Word Yet Thought The World: Did Valentines Day Come Early?
She didn't say a word-
She thought the world.
Adolescence:
When I was little, I couldn't decide whether double crossed fingers meant good or bad luck.
Full for veggies, hungry for desert.
I was alone but not lonely.
My one friend barely seemed a necessity.
When I was little,
I approached each person with the same set of eyes and welcoming hands.
Positive and negative effects not yet noticed.
Snowflakes were pink;
skin was green.
Fake smiles were only known as upside down- confused- frowns.
Lunch:
Now:
Alone
Last year together:
He screwed her over.
Figures.
Last year.
Neither approachable-
not together, not alone.
Lunch:
She was a voluntary janitor by guilt.
Picking up their trash
...picking up their lunch
...picking up their hearts.
Who would pick up hers?
Who would voluntarily brighten her day?
Adolescence:
-played mind games with no one on the other end.
Called mind games,
no one picked up on the other end.
Picking up their hearts,
picking up their trash.
Post Adolescence:
After School:
She ripped apart her feelings-
All boys suck.
No one needs a damned relationship.
No one is to desire a damned relationship.
She struts down the steps of her glory.
She stumbles down the steps to her worry.
Her boots tied metal weights fastened to the ground with pink-
black [burnt] bows.
Each step taken forward is a new round of
intimate whispers
and
hugging for dear life.
Cute Couples:
Disgusting couples.
Cute couples-
every corner.
Valentines Day-
every wall.
Disgusting couples line the locker.
Disgusting couples keep warm.
Cute couples-
smile into each other's shoulders.
Cute couples-
call up the phone.
Cute couples-
ring.
She picks up.
Hello?
Girl. You don't need no-
Lunch.
Twiddling her thumbs under the table.
Who would know?
Lunch.
Stabbing each piece of lettuce until it ripped through the fork
evaporating into thin air so she wouldn't have to eat it.
Lunch.
She's hungry.
Girl, you don't need no-
Thoughts.
twinkle away.
