"There is no try, there is only do, or do not." ~Yoda

The stargazer waits
for the night sky to brighten
he waits expectantly
to see the lovely stars awaken

The stargazer stares
up into the night
he searches and searches
but sees no light

The stargazer hopes
his soul fervent and bright
yearning to summon
the stars with all his might

The stargazer wishes
for the timid lights to shine
he wants desperately
for the sweet peace in his mind

The stargazer saddens
as a horror enters his mind
what if the twinkling stars
will not ever shine?

The stargazer gazes
into a sky black as coal
when his sad eyes see a twinkle
that relieves his burdened soul

The stars are shining once more.

The author's comments:
I wrote it when I was tried out for the tennis team. I just assumed I would make varsity, an when I didn't, it crushed me, because I was just so sure, so expectant that I would get on the team. This is kind of what it going on in the poem.
