Writing is a boring task that simply can’t be done
I’d rather shake it off and save my precious time for fun
I’m checking out of English when I’m handed a new book
I roll my eyes but force myself to take a second look

The book contains instructions both on writing and on life
It boasts a way to help you handle future bouts of strife
It tells me that the first rough drafts aren’t often pretty
The truth is that more times than not, they’re really very s*****

By starting with a piece of work so truly nauseating
The only thing that’s left for it is some elevating
You can’t be neat and tidy or your writing will be stiff
Let someone read your work, although you may jump off a cliff

You can’t just sit and wait for your writing to get better
You must push yourself to write it down, every grueling letter
I close the book and process this alternative advice
When someone says they cannot write, I’ll tell them to think twice
