Chicago Skyline
I press my head against the window,
feeling the vibrations of the street
of a city so alive.
My young eyes look out at Chicago
the city that never sleeps,
seeming just as tired as 1.
The skyline filled with towers,
lighting up the twilight sky.
But they’ve taken all the stars,
as they’re reaching ever upward,
daring to touch the sky.
Standing at the bottom
of the buildings you look up,
so sure that it may actually lead to the heavens.
But when you see the skyline
miles away in a passing car,
you’ll realize how much farther you have to go
to finally reach the stars.
And all you can’t help but think about,
is how small you really are.
