Confessions of a Butterfly
There he was flying away
with many others following.
He was determined to protect
while others followed as stray.
Staring straight ahead while tears were shed
passing fields and trains and graveyards.
Unoccupied wings lied there so quietly
still yet to be jarred.
They sang so delightful and tried not to be frightful
while smoke was straight ahead.
A butterfly then flew along and offered to join the song
taking the startled ones along the broken road.
He refused to leave his friends
or in truer terms-family.
When they landed on the tree for wounded wings
screaming and crying and begging was all the ear could hear.
But he soothed the ones with the shattered souls.
And with awareness of not becoming alone
they faded away together.
Althought the one with the strongest wings
was the onew ho survived the coldest weather.
