Eyes of an Outdoorsman

The eyes of an Outdoorsman have witnessed nature’s work.
They see things that many never will,
Things hidden from ordinary life,
Visible in places only an Outdoorsman will travel.
They see turkeys strutting on a morning hillside,
The redfish tailing on low tide,
Indian artifacts deep in the woods,
a mallard hen raising her brood.
They climb mountains and see snow covered peaks,
See black gators swimming in the Florida creeks,
The great waterfowl migration,
These sights they see from endless dedication.
They see a rooster explode from the grass,
A giant cottonwood with untold mass,
They see an Osprey flying with a fish in tote,
And the dolphins that swim by the boat.
Every Outdoorsman’s eyes have a story to tell.
An outdoorsman’s eyes get to see the world,
Wherever they may go in God’s great land,
An Outdoorsman prays,
“Please keep painting me pictures with your loving hand.”
