A girls best friend?

They say diamonds are a girls best friend
Yes; diamonds are beautiful and attractive
But I don’t think I would claim them as my best friends
Do they talk to you or hold you when you are hurt and sad
Do they comfort you and say “I believe in you”
Can you have a personal friendship with these ‘things’
Someone enlighten me
So even though they say they are a girls best friend
I still have not found a reason they should be and why
So someone please tell me
Why are they our best friends?
