Carpe Diem

Drowning,
Holding you down into its watery depths,
Gasping for breath; the waves crash over you.
One gulp closer to death.
You wait, for a savior to come; time passes, they never do.

Why must you wait for the change,
For someone to guide you to your freedom?
What is stopping you,
From breaking the current yourself, freed from the fathoms?

What holds you back?
What waves push you down?
Is it fear, of the past or of what could come,
Or is it fear of being by yourself, alone in a ghost town?

The day depends on what you make of it
Everyday defines you; and can change your life,
Your choices and words and actions.
Little changes in your routine everyday,
Can turn the most important days of your future to further satisfaction.

Seizing the day,
In the simplest of ways.
Making years of life worth more in twenty,
Than wasting it in eighty,
By making the most out of moments, as if it were the last.
No use in waiting on others for change;
When you have the arms and legs to reach the surface.
The day depends on you,
And you alone can make the difference.
