Don’t seduce me with Whitman
Or Cummings
Talk of nostalgia, history,
Or divinity
My hands grip the pages of a calendar
Each accompanying image has
a time of youth and old age
as the month advances day by day by hour
Time moves like a wounded animal
I show my teeth, but not to smile
The hourglass chokes in the silence
