I Missed You
Rain pitter patters on the rooftops
People rush by
With newspapers covering their heads
A homeless man finds shelter under a canopy
Cats scurry to alley ways
A taxi splashes muddy water
On a group of people as it turns the corner
And then, there’s you
I spot you dancing in the rain
Your smile brightens the stormy day
Your childlike joy is like
And eternal sunshine
You grab my hand and beckon me to join you
We take cover under a tree
I stare into your brilliant blue eyes
My fingers trace the freckles on your bare shoulders
I breath in the sweet smell of your cologne
Your minty breath raises gooseflesh on my neck
I feel comfortable
I feel Safe
I feel your lips in my hair
As you whisper, “I missed you.”
