What Skiing is
Skiing is when all but the snow is left behind
When ice stings my cheeks
Snowflakes light as feathers
Douglas firs brushing me with outstretched hands
Skiing is the little girl
Who falls and tumbles down
But never gives in
Sweeping the snow out of her hair
Skiing is the fear of failing
That has yet to slow me down
Because the only thing I need
Is to fly over the snowy peaks
Skiing is hot chocolate in the lodge
Warmth contrasting with my frozen feet
Laughter so warm it melts the ice on my fingers
And with it disappear my doubts
Skiing is soaking socks and dripping hats
Tiny toes defrosting by the mighty fire
Content smiles on tired faces
And love for the bonds of family
