Departure
We are born into this world in infancy; it’s inevitable; we’ll grow old
But on this journey to adolescence, our memories will never be sold
It’s during these years in life, we love and learn and grow
Taking life like a great race; even and paced and slow
Lessons of companionship, change and maturity is what we’ll carry as we go
We’re departing now, it’s sad, we know.
Beyond the present, life will bring us so much more
Experiences that become memories, walls that become doors
However, it’s important to never dismiss, what was learned in the past throughout all of this
For, it is learning from a mistake that enables us to move forward,
To those glistening goals we all ultimately work toward
Heads high and spirits higher
We wear the skills we’ve acquired
Like a silk robe upon our backs
Like a shiny, hard, polished bronze plaque
Not obvious the worth, but blatant the measure
This is the time in life we treasure.
