\\\\\\\"Time brings all things to life, in that I trust it so.\\\\\\\" ~ Willie Stark

When the tides change
I’ll be free
to drown among my people
in the ancient lands of nowhere
nowhere you would go
with a head upon my hat
and feet upon my shoes
it’s time to go inside
to survive
the cold of the air conditioning
in my room it’s harsh living
with the lights turned off
no one makes a sound
except the pitter patter of my soul
across the aluminum roof of my mind
like raindrops in your eye
all you are is a blurred image
thoughts once clear
are now hard to see
I have to retrieve my telescope
just to see you
still leaves me empty inside
’cause I think it’s my fault
that I have no idea
but I don’t know what to think
or where to begin
so I just sit and wait
for the tide to come in.

Wow.  This is melodic, is the word I would use to describe it!  Of course, great poetry can't be described in words.

This would make a really good song, especially the 'stanza' that rhymes..."But I don't know what to think/Or where to begin/So I just sit and wait/For the tide to come in". And I would really appreciate it if you checked out my poems, like "True Colors". Well, anyway, good job!!!

They teach us to stand out; yet they smash us into groups; they teach us to be happy; yet they demoralize us as life moves on; they teach us to listen; yet they ignore our questions; think about it. The teaching and learning system is screwed up.

I love this poem! It is very creative and just beautiful!!!

The worst weeks are the ones that never really seem to start, so by the end they feel like they've been going on forever.

I love this, the emotion, the feeling, the play on words! Every thing about it just wow! Amazing, well done sir, well done.

Little difficult to understand. Its what I imagine it would be like to read James Joyce. Interesting and good cause you have to read it over again.......and again.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

I kind of agree with Sky. Although I do like the way words are used to capture emotion.

Brilliant! I loved how the poem says the opposite of what is expected in lines like "It's time to go inside/ to survive/ the cold of the air conditioning/ in my room it's harsh living". The poem also does a good job capturing the emotion of the speaker. Well done.

what issue is this poem printed in?
