To Become Numb
The guilt in our hearts
Or the butterflies in our stomach
Suppressed into the back of our minds
Are the feelings we learn to control
Until we've numbed them down
Until all we feel is a slight poke
In our sides and we laugh
Because it was nothing
We felt nothing
We have become numb
Watched too much horror to be scared
Kissed too many to feel love
Lied to many times to even care
About whom we’re lying to
It doesn't matter anymore
A kiss is just a touch
And a touch is not a buzz
It isn't anything because
It is nothing to be felt
We feel nothing
We have become numb
Her memory is lost
And her mind is fogged
Her thoughts are faded
And she cannot feel anymore
A wide smile with a black stare
She’s not afraid of losing herself
She’s afraid of reality
So she breaths in hard
And exhales in peace
Because there is nothing in her
She feels nothing
She has become numb
