Young Driver
A narrow street
It looks like it never ends
Packed with metal things on wheels
People walking their dogs
The rumble of my dad’s F250
My dad’s smooth comforting voice
Hard thick leather of the steering wheel
Stretching my legs to touch the gas
I taste the bubble gum smacking against my teeth
Trying to drive on the road
Stopping every 5 seconds at a sign or a light
I felt old, cool, and manly
The strong smell of the gas that is being burnt from the big loud diesel engine
