An Ode to My Bed
Oh, my bed
My twin sized palate
Dressed in a cotton saint
Draped with a fluffy cheetah comforter
Decorated with a plump pillow
Matching my mint green walls
Doubling as a hamper on a Friday night
All the nights you thought I’d be coming home to you
But you were left there, empty
Sacrificing your image because I forgot to take off my makeup
Keeping my secrets of sneaking in at 4 am
Spending Sunday afternoons together watching LMN
Lying beneath my windows
Letting the fresh breeze in on a chilly fall night
The perfect place to watch Walk the Line repeatedly
Sitting at the perfect height for my fan
From my mother scolding at me to “make you”
Or listening to my pity party
Singing me sweet lullabies
Never letting me fall to the floor
Being more reliable than most people I have met
