Chi-Town is My-Town
Today’s the day, the time has come!
I can hardly contain my joy!
All we have left, is to load the car,
and we’re off to Chicago, Illinois!
I cannot believe we are actually going.
I’ve had this dream for countless years.
As we begin to depart from our home in Cascade,
my excitement brings me to tears!
I cannot wait to spend time with my aunt.
I am anxious to finally arrive.
But there is one obstacle in my way:
this long, treacherous, drive.
The constant waiting and constricted movement
are factors that aren’t so bad.
The worst part is riding FOUR hours
with my crazy, annoying dad!
My dad is extremely funny and witty,
to claim otherwise would be quite a bluff.
Unfortunately, he is simply unaware when to quit.
He does not know when enough is enough!
Nevertheless, I survive the drive.
We are mere miles away, and then WHAM!
We notice we’ll be riding another hour together,
for we have hit an insane traffic jam.
One hour later we are back to full speed,
since the busy street, we have finally crossed.
Just when we feel like our luck has improved,
we come to find out that we’re lost!
Now I have lost all of my patience.
I call my aunt so she can tell us the way.
As soon as we arrive, we drop off our bags,
and head to dinner without further delay.
My aunt, my dad, my uncle, and I
hop on the L train and head downtown.
Our long drive has worked up an appetite,
so we eat dinner in beautiful Chinatown!
Later that night we go ice skating.
We take pictures and visit “the bean.”
I see monuments and breathtaking skyscrapers,
and the prettiest lights that I’ve ever seen!
Finally we arrive back at the house,
we watch a movie and lie down for bed.
For my aunt has a big day planned for tomorrow,
I know we have a long day ahead!
Once we awake, breakfast is served.
We eat and head out the door.
Then we venture to the Museum of Industry
which contains exhibits galore.
Our next destination is the beauty salon,
where professionals style our nails.
This is a time where my aunt and I bond.
Our fun times together never fail.
Once we are finished at Pinky’s, it is 5:00.
We eat a dinner of delicious fondue!
Then, in the spirit of Christmas and New Year’s,
we end our night with lights at the zoo!
As we lie down for bed I evaluate my trip
“Was this vacation worth waiting for?”
Before I drift off, I come to the conclusion
this spree has met my expectations and more!
The morning of our departure is bittersweet,
I did not want this vacation to end.
However as we wave goodbye to my aunt,
I promise I will be back again!
