You're Wrong About Me
I’m sorry that I’m not your star,
But you’re wrong about me.
I’ve wasted far too much time trying to please you,
Building up my confidence just to have it shattered,
But you know what?
Every rejection makes the fire burn hotter,
And makes my star shine brighter,
Too bad you can’t see it.
I’m sorry that I’m not your star,
But you’re wrong about me.
Your insensitivity doesn’t cut me down anymore,
I’m on to your little game,
Build up, tear down, build up, tear down.
Give just enough to shut me up,
But not enough to satisfy me,
And just enough so that no one dares to think I’m decent.
I’m sorry that I’m not your star,
But you’re wrong about me.
You’re going to see one day.
I’m going to prove you wrong,
Because I’m not discouraged.
Not for a minute.
Not for a single solitary second.
You haven’t beaten me down, I WILL emerge victorious.
I’m sorry you can’t see my star.
That’s your loss, because it’s beautiful.
