Pretty Puppet

she was pretty
her hair was long
bleached blonde
her face was plastered
with make-up
her legs were limps
her heart was a race
controlled by everything
but her mind
her mind was controlled
by the puppeteer
above her
in every way
though this is not true
she does not know that
when not in use
she is behind a curtain
of lies and doubt
and she never did
figure out how
to cut the strings
