Today in a wish is a dime in a well
when tossed away the value is lost
the worth of the fortune only time will tell
as time will tell how much your wishes cost

You’ve always had spare change in your purse
to waste in the name of better days
but the name of better days is a curse
when it leads you to waste the moment away

The promise of future is always a thief
that is apprehended by no one
there is nothing assurance will lead to but grief
if the living of life has not yet begun

It’s amazing how much time we spend
wishing our time away
then later at dusk imploring time to extend
if only another day.
