Dear Cancer,

You are just a mutation,
A despicable mutt.
Whom decides to come and take whatever you please.
I hate you.
Do you know what you cause?
Do you feel the havoc you create?
Can you see the pain you paint on families faces?
You are a murderer.
I know you are just a deformed cell but your ignorance,
It does not excuse you from various punishments.
Or the knowledge that you are what caused,
His death.

Sincerely,
Cecelia

Dear Cecelia,

I’m sorry for what I have taken,
And what I have yet to take.
Many people hate me for this factor,
I can’t escape awareness.
But I cannot help who I am.
Just because my genetic code is different,
Does not give you the right to hate me,
Even if I kill.
Everyone around you has a different code,
Do you hate them?
Inevitably if I am found in you,
I am a part of you.
Would you hate a part of you?
After all it’s the parts that make a whole.

Sincerely,
Cancer
