One damp day, down by the dull water

A man looked over at his two-year-old daughter.

As she ran along the edge of the crashing waves,

She looks at the blue dolphins and they exchange waves.

Sea gulls and eagles swoosh and dive above her head
On a roller coaster connected with a thread.

The pelicans fly across the sky,

So high that the earth had said good-bye.

The girl was collecting seashells by the sea shore

Like she has done seven million times before.

Bending down to the ground, to see the spiral shells,

The shells already in her hands jingle like bells.

But the shells are not the only thing on the beach,

There are tiny creatures with five and six legs each

The small starfish covered the beach and the girl
Looks at each of the starfish like a treasured pearl.

Carefully tossing one starfish back to the sea,
She knew she had saved it and she smiled with glee.

The foolish father turned to his daughter and said,

“You can’t make a big difference, half will still be dead.”

She continued to save starfish and
Continued to take them off the sand.

“I made a difference to that one.” She replied.
Surprised, her father joined in with pride.

One damp day, down by the dull water
A young father learned from his two-year-old daughter.

The starfish had been saved and the heroes had run

All around the sandy beach, enjoying the sun.
