Open up the steel doors
To a substantial building with three basketball courts.
Sounds of squeaking shoes, shouting
And rare cuss words
Fill the ears of the occupants.
Scents of sweat and more sweat
Are the odors the inhabitants smell.
Putting on a new pair of shoes
Is like walking on a cloud
Or a Tempur-pedic bed.
The shiny brown court
Is my favorite place to be.
