Daddy

A small word that means so much;
The strongest arms, yet gentle touch.
Always an answer when I ask why;
Forever a kiss when I cry.

You help me up when I stumble,
Courage and patience when I grumble.
When night comes and you’re fast asleep,
Until I awake or make a peep.
Daddy’s always there by my side,
To wish me sweet dreams as I close my eyes.

Daddy, you may think sometimes
You’re not doing well,
But this is why I’m here to tell.

To be a child is all I can be,
But a daddy like you, there has never been.
Determination and strength time and time again,
Patience and softness never reaches an end.

True, daddy may be a word that is so small,
But the never ending love,
Is the willingness to give it all.
So daddy if you’re ever feeling blue,
The sparkle in my eyes,
Is the love I give back to you.

My dad has cancer, and I moved in with my mom when I was young. So this was the positive way that I remember my dad.
