Words Will Never Hurt Me.
The school grounds were a battlefield
Where we fought for our place day after day.
And we struggled to stand our ground
Even when everyone around
Wanted to knock us down.
And while our peers slept in their beds,
We kept swimming upstream.
Challenging ourselves to be more than perfect,
But perfection is a fantasy.
And yeah, most of us got caught in the tides.
Drowning in the faded cries of victims wailing
Words will never hurt me.
Of course,
They did.
